Starting Seedlings

The most important part of growing vegetables is starting seedlings. If you are unable to get seeds  to grow and/ or germinate then the hydro tower is just a pretty fountain. Below we go over the steps of preparing the seeds in rock wool. The rock wool in the description is 1″ and the seedling tray holds 12 rock wool squares. This method can be replicated with any setup you have.  Speak with an Expert for more personalized help. Find out more about growing your own food on our main page at MyGrowCo.com

Step 1 to Starting Seedlings

The first step to starting seedling is separating enough rock wool from the pack to add into the Micro Seed Tray.

Step 2 to Starting Seedlings

Once the rock wool is separated then add the rock wool into the seedling tray.

Step 3 to Starting Seedlings

Add water to top of the tray and make sure all rock wool is submerged. Let the water sit in the tray for 5 min to 2 hours in order for it to filly soak. Once the time has passed empty 80% of the water from the seedling tray and make sure that there is enough water at the bottom to keep the rock wool wet.

Step 4 to Starting Seedlings

Use the lid of the seedling tray to pre-wet the seeds. Seeds should then be added into the rock wool. The rock wool should have a small rebuilt hole in the middle of each square but if it doesn’t, you can make one with a toothpick of a small stick.

Step 5 to Starting Seedlings

The rock wool should have a small rebuilt hole in the middle of each square but if it doesn’t, you can make one with a toothpick of a small stick. Now add the seeds into the holes. (There should be 2-5 seeds in each hole to guarantee germination.)

Place seedlings by sunlight and let nature do the rest!

Place the planted seeds covered up near a window that has sunlight and wait 2-3 weeks before adding into the hydro tower.Click here to Start your seedings today!
